Hi everyone,
First of all, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was a little bit sad because I could not go back to France with my friends and family but fortunately hubby and Ulysse were there and we finally had a great time, full of love, good food and Santa was very nice to me! I will show you some of my make-up related gifts very soon.
So, today, I have a huge post about these famous Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters. Few weeks ago, all the big Youtube beauty girls raved about this new lipstick, I immediately became skeptical because too much advertising always hide something. As I always say, big trends tend to disappear as quickly as they arrived...
I wasn't very interested by these Lip Butters because I first thought they were only tinted lip balms and not really lipsticks. The name is quite misleading I think. But I went to Walgreens the other day and they were there, waiting for me with a huge 30% rebate and $1 off more and with all this hype and this constant advertising (robots) , I finally get 6 of those for half the original price because who wants to spend more than $7 for a tinted lip balm?
I finally picked up 6 shades, from neutral tones to very bright ones. The range is large but I don't think that all the colors are nice, especially those white/pinkish colors or white/beige tones.
I thought they were tinted lip balms but I was wrong, they are lipstick with a strong moisturizing effect. I tried them all and I really think they are all good but I still don't understand such a rave. I can't see something revolutionary. They are just simple lipsticks with an extra dose of "butter".
They are really hydrating for lipstick but they won't replace your chap stick because they don't last too long on your lips. You constantly touch-ups your lips to keep a beautiful and even color.
For those who like bright colors but who are a little shy to wear them, I think these lipsticks are made for you. As the coverage is light to medium for some of them and rather sheer, it is buildable and easy to wear for everyone.
Other than that, I really like all the shades I chose because it goes from neutral colors to very intense so that it goes with all kind of outfits or moods or seasons, really convenient!
Now, there are all the swatches and tests!
Candy Apple & Cherry Tart swatches
Candy Apple has some orange undertones.
This is my new hair color! A cool medium brown. I like it, it is much more natural...I was almost blond!
Cherry Tart has some subtile and tiny flecks, but almost invisible.
The packaging is cute!
Sweet Tart & Lollipop swatches
Lollipop is a bright fuchsia color and I love it! It is a bit iridescent, some blue/purple undertones.
Sweet Tart is a pretty baby pink. I usually don't wear this type of color but this one is really cute and for a baby/barbie pink, it is not too girly I think.
Sugar Plum & Pink Truffle swatches
Pink Truffle is probably the easiest color to wear. It is a neutral pink nude color that gives you a fresh look.
Sugar Plum is still a neutral color but a bit more intense. Love it! It is perfect for girls with natural dark lips. It gives you a subtile and elegant touch.
♡Overall & Verdict:
♡♡♡♡/5
♡Pros:
+ Good hydratation
+ Large range of colors
♡Cons:
- A bit sheer but still buildable
- A bit expensive for drugstore products, more than $7
