Designers to launch special collections in Macy's

So after the Material girl collection designed by Madonna and her Daughter Lourdes and launched in August in Macy's (to remember the details click here ), the chain decided to contract a new designer and who else than Karl?!!!

Wondering why him? well maybe because he designs For Fendi, Chanel, has his own line, is a photographer, he is called the Kaiser, he has as muse Baptiste Giabiconi and least but not last, he buys computers because they look nice : "I buy computers because they are beautiful objects. Personally, I don’t use them that much, but I don’t use cell phones and Blackberries and all that. It’s not because I want to be cut off from the world, but because I have different priorities. I like to do everything myself. I know pretty well about dressmaking — a technique that is difficult to get, as you know. My eyes are open, but they are not limited to a screen. For me, the world is a huge screen. That’s how I see it."
Previously this year, Karl has canceled his Karl Lagerfeld show, which was scheduled to take place in Paris on October 3; instead, the line will be shown to buyers from showrooms in Milan and Paris to work on a "masstige" line. (Masstige products fall somewhere between mass and prestige products, naturally — so they're much more affordable than designer clothes but still of good quality.) The new masstige collection, which sprang from the idea of "mass elitism," will be sold online -remember the man does not use computers- and will drop in 2011.

Karl will as well design a capsule collection for Macy's to be sold in 250 stores and on the Internet beginning in September of next year. His Macy's line is the first in the retailer's new designer series, through which designer lines will rotate in the Impulse section of the store every two months. The cycle then begins in February 2012 with former John Galliano employee Kinder Aggugini, followed by Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Calvin Klein, Costume National, and Versace.

Macy's want these collection to have the same impact as the one the designers did for H&M and to be sold out in hours, so let's cross our fingers.

Just one more info, the "masstige" line i talked about above is not the one that will be presented at Macy's so that no one get me wrong :)

Waiting to see what will come next and how these collaborations will fructify...
